Happy New Year!
We hope you all enjoyed the holiday season and are prepared for another great year! The PTO strongly encourages everyone to join our meetings to listen to fundraising and community motivated ideas, or to share new ideas with fellow parents! During the second half of this school year we will continue to support West Parish students with engaging and educational enrichment programs; we will support the staff with appreciation and any other needs that they may have; and we will continue to fundraise to help fund programs, supplies and school improvement. Thank you all for YOUR support of West Parish!
We are in desperate need of a new PTO treasurer for next year! Our current co-treasurers, Pam and Linda, have fifth grade students who will graduate to O’Maley this spring. We need to know NOW that you are interested in keeping our financials on track so that learning/training time can happen between now and June. PLEASE APPLY TO Lisa Groleau at email@example.com or 978-526-4129 if you have bookeeping talents and will help our school. (If you would like to share the job with a friend, that is also an option.)

The winner of the awesome set of Bruins tickets raffled off by the Fifth grade team is Ben Orlando! Congratulations Ben and thank you all for supporting the Fifth grade!
Art Supplies Needed!
Mrs. Morgan, our unbelievably talented and awesome art teacher, is looking for some general supplies for her art room. If you have in storage and do not need, or would like to purchase for our students, the art room needs Yarn, Paper Towels, Wipes, Cardboard Paper Towel and Toilet Paper Rolls, Scrapbooking supplies, Valentine making supplies, Patriotic stuff, and any other miscellaneous knick knacks or crafting supplies that you have around the house not in use. Mrs. Morgan teaches almost 400 students every week and supplies run out quickly. Please support her need for extra random supplies and recycle at the same time! (Send to school marked “art room.” Thanks!
Thank you to all the families that helped with our Holiday Happening in December. Our kids had a great time working at various craft tables, shopping the book fair, hearing a holiday story, kindly told by Dr. Safier, and visiting with Santa! Thank you again to all that helped and thank you to all that came to the event. It was a great success!
Thank you to our library volunteers that donated time to organizing, setting up and running our Scholastic Book Fair. Students and staff were able to choose from many current and fun titles for home and the classroom! Thanks to all for supporting the book fair.
“Koats for Kids” and Action Toy Drive
West Parish was able to donate SEVERAL bags full of clothes and toys to Project Uplift at the Action, Inc. shelter for use during this holiday season thanks to your donations. These items are always needed so please continue to donate to Action, Inc. if you can!. A special thank you to parent volunteer Kate Coelho for helping out with this worthwhile cause, and to Mrs. Perry (and her husband) for their huge toy donation. (I am pretty sure they miss having young children at home!)
Before the holiday break our staff were treated to a fantastic lunch hosted by the Third, Fourth and Fifth grade classes. Rosalie Foti and friends coordinated to serve pastas, salads, sandwiches, desserts and more to our teachers. And teachers were able to sit together and enjoy lunch as a team. Thank you to all that donated money towards this luncheon or prepared a homemade dish or dessert for our wonderful professionals.
Murdock Computer Donation!
Thank you so very much to the Murdock family for thinking of West Parish after upgrading an office full of computer equipment. Sean and Colleen Murdock donated six perfect computer monitors and hard drives for student use. Donation ideas are always welcome!
Donation for Library Books
The Natti family from West Gloucester who are also West Parish supporters, have donated $300.00 to West Parish for the purchase of new library books. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Natti for your generous donation to our school and especially our students.
Another check for $400.00 has arrived at West Parish. If clipping Box Tops is the only thing you do to support our school financially, it is also the easiest! Thank you Cathy Fulford for your expert collection, counting and management of the Box Top’s House!
PLEASE USE THE ATTACHED FLYER TO SEND IN BOX TOPS FOR OUR JANUARY DRAWING FOR A FRIENDLY’S GIFT CARD!
The National Geographic Giant Map of North America
The giant 20’ by 30’ map of North America is here. Students, with Mrs. Elliot and teachers, have been visiting the map to study geography, distance, and the planet we live on! Ask them about it!
Third, Fourth and Fifth grade students will learn about history through art and how to read paintings to look for clues on how people, animals and the world appeared through time. This program is a wonderful way to introduce our students to different styles of art, artists and representation.
